Billy King

Regally named, Derbyshire-raised director. Witty, unorthodox concepts grounded in serious storytelling and craft. A clever creative who knows how to make things happen. Bold writing, contemporary aesthetics, timeless palettes. Youthful spirit, mature approach. Daring ideas, deftly executed.

Lea Thurner

Lea is a Munich-born storyteller who moved from copywriting into directing via the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy. Her work spans commercials, short films and music videos across Berlin, Munich and Copenhagen. Thoughtful, character-led and visually precise, her films balance emotional clarity with craft. She once survived a UCLA masterclass fuelled almost entirely by iced coffee.

Saman Aminzadeh

Saman is an Iranian-Irish filmmaker from Bradford, known for humanity-first storytelling rooted in contemporary subcultures. A key creative force behind Channel 4’s multi award-winning 2023 Idents, his work blends cultural insight with evocative realism. From family and identity to community and connection, Saman consistently finds hope, humour and joy in the everyday.

Jonny Look

Jonny is a Los Angeles-based director and writer, originally from Cleveland, Ohio. His work lingers on the absurd, the unexpected and the quietly profound. Moving effortlessly between short films and music videos, he creates singular worlds filled with whimsy, humour and emotional truth. Fearless, off-beat storytelling with a distinctly human edge.

David McShane

David is a London-based director and animator whose award-winning shorts have premiered at Cannes and the BFI London Film Festival. Working across film, TV and animation, his practice explores queerness, technology and emotional disconnect through fantasy-driven storytelling. Visually rich, playful and thought-provoking, his work blurs the line between the intimate and the surreal.

ABOVEGROUND

AboveGround is a Lithuanian-born, London-based director and photographer working across music videos and experimental documentary. With over a decade of experience, his work explores underground culture with curiosity and restraint. Often shooting on film, he blends the staged with the unpredictable, capturing moments that feel raw, tactile and alive.

Lauren Maya Davis

Lauren is an award-winning British writer-director based between London and California. Her work is rooted in feeling and empathy, developed viscerally on the page and elevated through cinematic craft. With a background in motion graphics, film design and cinematography, she brings emotional precision and visual intelligence to every project.

Shona Heath

Shona is the Oscar-winning production designer behind Poor Things, and an image-maker known for confident, playful worlds rich in texture and imagination. Her work stretches and distorts natural motifs, blending humour with luxury and femininity. Drawing inspiration from art, people and the everyday, she creates bold, joyful landscapes with a distinctive sense of fun.

Louise de Nexon

Louise is a Paris-born, New York-based director shaped by growing up between two culturally rich cities. Her work reflects a deep interest in meaningful, culturally ingrained stories paired with strong visual aesthetics. Observant and emotionally attuned, she brings sensitivity and style to character-led narratives.

Luna Carmoon

Carmoon is a distinctive voice in contemporary filmmaking, shaped by South London and a childhood steeped in VHS horror. Her work blends raw emotion with bold visual storytelling. From breakout shorts to her debut feature HOARD, she brings a fearless, singular perspective to stories that feel visceral, intimate and unforgettable.

Caleb Femi

Caleb is a multidisciplinary artist working across film, photography, fashion and poetry. His practice moves fluidly between narrative, culture and music, grounded in emotional honesty and visual experimentation. From acclaimed shorts to episodic TV and global brand collaborations, his work feels intimate, expressive and culturally resonant.

Tanner K Williams

Tanner is a queer director and photographer exploring mental health, sex and gender through satire, nostalgia and discomfort. Their work blends the familiar with the unsettling, creating a provocative and intentional visual language. Bold, subversive and emotionally charged storytelling that challenges expectation and invites reflection.

Meet the curators

Franki Goodwin

Chief Creative Officer, Saatchi & Saatchi

Award-winning creative and filmmaker Franki joined Saatchi & Saatchi almost a decade ago and has been behind much of the company’s most notable work for clients including Direct Line and Deutsche Telekom. Alongside her role at Saatchi & Saatchi, Franki is Executive Producer at Western Edge Pictures, a multi award-winning independent production company she co-founded in 2010. Prior to Saatchi, Franki founded and ran a boutique film marketing consultancy, ‘Franki&Jonny’, whose clients included Pathé, Warner Bros and Curzon Cinemas. A graduate of Glasgow School of Art, she has returned regularly as a guest lecturer and spent time teaching at Parsons School of Design in Paris.

Jess Ringshall

Chief Production Officer, Saatchi & Saatchi

Jess comes from a varied background having worked across entertainment and advertising, helping brands tap into cultural moments. She recently joined Saatchi & Saatchi from 750mph, where she worked with brands such as IKEA, Playstation and Bodyform. Prior to 750mph, Jess co-founded and ran a consultancy business which specialised in entertainment partnerships and helping brands and agencies better understand, access and navigate the world of entertainment. She also spent nine years at Grey, delivering Cannes- winning content for brands including P&G, Lucozade, HSBC and Volvo.
